I worked with Sailor Jones Media to build a customized content-managed web site to showcase images of recent architectural projects, as well as provide news and information about the firm. The CMS tools allow for frequent updates to keep the site content current.

Future Possibilities for Kids

Future Possibilities for Kids provides community leadership and life skills development programs for 8 to 14-year-old children in the Toronto area.

Working with Design for Good, I implemented the provided graphic design concepts and requirements as a custom WordPress theme, and enhanced it with customized plugins that help create a friendly, contemporary and easy-to-maintain website to showcase the organization's work for potential donors, volunteers and participants.

Messinger Consultants

Messinger Consultants provides marketing, communications and branding services. For their website, I was responsible for converting the clean, professional design created by S+P Design into functional, standards-compliant code.

As the site content will remain fairly static, no CMS was required. However, I did create some custom functionality for a jQuery-powered animated client logo slider which dynamically parses data from an XML definition file, allowing for easy modification of client logos at a later date.

Federation of Ontario Public Libraries

The Federation of Ontario Public Libraries is a non-profit organization that advocates for Ontario public libraries. The website is a resource that provides information about the federation to the public, and a community hub for members to share news.

I created a custom WordPress theme to implement the design provided by Swerve Design, and used a combination of third-party and custom plugins to create members-only site sections. Other custom features include a jQuery-based home page feature rotator and a content font-sizing widget.

Active Communities Pledge

Active Communities Pledge

The Active Communities Pledge microsite provides information about the Share the Road Cycling Coalition and enables both candidates for office and voters to pledge their support for the cause. Site visitors may also share information about the cause via email and social media.

Working with the designs and concepts created by Design for Good, I coded custom PHP and MySQL to handle the pledge submissions, validation, data exporting, and email sending functionality.

Protect Your Share

Protect Your Share

Protect Your Share is an online initiative by Ontario Nature to promote the protection of the Malcolm Bluff Shores area of the Niagara Escarpment in Ontario.

I worked with Design for Good to build this custom PHP/MySQL website. Integrated with an existing donation system, the Protect Your Share site enables donors to make a donation to protect a share of the Malcolm Bluff Shores, and then see that share represented visually as a part of a forest along with supportive messages. The site also includes information and galleries showcasing the natural resources being protected.

For this project, I implemented the design and concept provided by Swerve Design by creating a custom WordPress theme. I also adapted the default layouts of blog entries to give them a custom layout suitable for displaying the lawyer biography pages.

To implement the design and concept provided by Strange Duck Media, I created a custom WordPress theme, along with a number of supporting custom widgets and plugins. With these customizations WordPress becomes a flexible and easy-to-use Content Management System. A wide variety of content, galleries, videos, and social media widgets have been integrated to produce an interactive and informative site.

Huntington Society Inspire Hope Campaign

The Inspire Hope Garden is a microsite created to promote the Huntington Society of Canada’s Amaryllis fundraising campaign.

I worked with Design for Good to build the site based on the provided design, integrating with an existing donation payment system. Features include the ability to plant a virtual Amaryllis flower accompanied by a message of hope in a virtual garden. Other pages provide information about Huntington Disease and the charity’s Amaryllis campaigns, both real and virtual.

Carna4 Hand Crafted Pet Food

Carna4.com is the website for Carna4, a new hand-crafted pet food made from all natural ingredients.

Working with the designs and specifications provided by Swerve Design, I built a custom WordPress theme, then expanded it with both custom and third-party plugins to create a content-rich website that is easy to update and maintain. Key features include an interactive rollover information graphic coded with jQuery, a Twitter feed, multiple contact forms, glossary tooltips, mailing list signup, and a flexible two-column content layout.

RonaMaynard.com is the website and online community for Rona Maynard, a Canadian author and former editor of Chatelaine magazine. The website launched to coincide with the publication of her book My Mother’s Daughter.

As developer, I adapted the graphic design provided by Strange Duck Media, built a custom Content Management System, and integrated a number of unique features to help make the site an interactive community that fosters discussion with readers.

CityPainter.ca

CityPainter.ca is a WordPress blog I created to showcase some of the acrylic paintings I do in my spare time.

I customized a default WordPress theme to create a front gallery page of thumbnail images linking to full blog entries. Each entry features a single painting as a prominent large image, along with a few paragraphs of text explaining the painting subject. I also created a simple map to pinpoint the location of various paintings using Google’s handy “My Maps” feature.

IWFCanada.com is the official website for the Canadian chapter of the International Women’s Forum, an organization with 60 affiliated forums in 21 nations.


Working with Strange Duck Media, I was responsible for converting the provided design and functional requirements into a dynamic content-managed website with features including selected bilingualism, a dual-view events calendar, and Feedburner RSS feed subscription integration.

Red Sky Performance

Red Sky Performance is a Toronto-based Indigenous dance, theatre and music performance company.

Working with Strange Duck Media, I was responsible for implementing the provided design and requirements using an extensively customized Drupal 6 installation. Advanced features included an interactive Google Map of the Canadian treeline. To meet funding requirements, unusually strict design and implementation guidelines needed to be accommodated, including Dublin Core meta tags on all pages.

The Fundamental Freedoms Project

The Fundamental Freedoms Project is a multilingual, multimedia website that presents an overview of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The site contains extensive content in five languages.

As part of a much larger team from Sailor Jones Media I was responsible for formatting and uploading content for the second phase of the project, which added Italian, Chinese, and German content to the existing English and French site. My duties included PHP code maintenance and updates, database content insertion, image creation, and multilingual text file preparation.

“Make Over Your Man” Contest

Make Over Your Man was an online contest promoting Joseph Abboud clothing and radio station 97.3 EZ Rock. The contest ran successfully in July 2009.

I worked with Swerve Design to implement the provided design concept and create a secure and functional contest application. Features included a “Tell Your Friends” email sharing form and a reporting system with data export.
